Stare at a saturated negative image of something for a while, then rapidly replace it with a greyscale image. the resulting image is in full color until you move your eyes! Very neat. I found this example and made one of my own. Using a big evil smiley face. To make it work, pick a spot in the smiley face and stare at it for a while, then without moving your eyes put your mouse over the image. It will be in color until you move your eyes or your eyes reset themselves. It's a trick with the rods and the cones. Enjoy!  Here are the two images separately and the original color image:

That's interesting, especially how well the eyes adjust to shading within colors. I wasn't expecting this or the castle one (to which you linked) to give such a clear gradient. Posted by: tek1024 at August 9, 2006 07:49 AM
